I firmly believe in Valley Christian School's motto of Romans 12:2 and am blessed to be a part of this school. I have lived in the area all of my life and am married with 4 children. It fills me with joy and laughter to watch these students grow up and mature in their faith, knowledge, and community involvement throughout the valley.

I am excited to be joining the teaching team at Valley Christian School. I was born in Minnesota, and my family moved to Milltown in 1998 when I was 5-years old. My three older brothers played basketball for VCS, and I had several friends who were students at VCS.

Having received my own education from kindergarten - 12th grade from a Christian perspective and having worked in public schools, I know the blessing and importance of children receiving a Christian education. I serve in a variety of positions at First Baptist Church of Milltown where my father is the pastor.

This school year is my first year teaching at Valley Christian School. It is a pleasure to be able to grow with our student community in their faith along with developing their mathematics education. I believe that the Bible shows us how God created mathematics and is a testimony to His faithfulness and power.

I grew up in a loving Christian home. I asked Jesus into my heart as a little girl. My family went to church three times a week or more. Then as a youth, I started going on mission trips and doing Bible studies with my friends in school.
I graduated from Alliance Christian Academy in Elk River, I did Youth with a Mission for two years, and enjoyed going on missions trips. I then went to North Central University and got my Elementary Education Degree in K-6th and middle school endorsement. I have been teaching for over seven years all together. I have experience teaching many different grades at a variety of different schools.
I married my husband, Peter Linder in 2002, and we have three boys: Gavin, Oliver, and Avery.
We live in the country in Lindstrom, Minnesota. Currently, our family is helping with a church plant. Our family likes to go boating, biking, fishing, have bonfires, and play games.
I am grateful to be at VCS and looking forward to this school year teaching 5th and 6th grade!

Kathy Thompson

Teaching at Valley Christian School since 2012 with fifteen years involvement with Valley Christian School as a parent and volunteer.

Six years homeschooling

I am blessed with a gracious husband, four beautiful children and a kind Heavenly Father who has lavishly poured His love and mercy out on me.

I believe in being a "student for life." I love to read and I love to write. Currently, my reading continues to center around English History, and more specifically, Elizabeth I and Mary Shelley. I dabble in writing and keeping notes on these subjects and others and simply find great delight in the study of the "individual" on the literature, art, and historical timelines. I dabble in watercolor, fortunately enjoying the process over perfection.

Teaching philosophy: Words are meant to breathe life. "Life and death are in the power of the tongue." Proverbs 18:21 -- words, the message they send, the power they hold, and the spirit they speak over the individual are worthy of our respect. There is much gravity to the responsibility we hold. There is also much freedom and satisfaction in their God-given intention put to proper use.
