May the peaceful season give you time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas!

MN State Capital Field Trip
The students from the social science classes of the 9th -12th grades made a trip to the MN state
capital. Why the MN state capital you might ask, due to distance.
We learned about the architecture, the setting, the rooms themselves and how they function.
The students could hardly contain their enthusiasm. We saw where the executive, legislative,
and judicial members work and meet to establish law, interpret law, and enforce the law. John
Locke, “Where-ever law ends, tyranny begins.”
One of the highlights was entering the Supreme Court of the MN Capital and seeing the mural
depicting Moses receiving the ten commandments from God. The title of this mural is “The
Moral and Divine Law”.
It was a great experience to view, learn, and soak in some of the history that does its best to
preserve the biblical principles that this country was founded on.
The MN Constitution is “We, the people of the state of Minnesota, grateful to God for our civil
and religious liberty, and desiring to perpetuate its blessings and secure the same to ourselves
and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution:”
The WI Constitution begins, “We, the people of Wisconsin, grateful to Almighty God for our
freedom, in order to secure its blessings, form a more perfect government, ensure domestic
tranquility and promote the general welfare, do establish this constitution.”
I am glad that the students were able to share this experience and pray that they are inspired to
honor God by serving one another in our communities and at different levels of government
including school boards, city councils, committees, and town meetings as they are grow and are
able.
Please continue to pray for our state and federal governments with this encouragement from
the book of Peter.
“Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as
the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do
wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God’s will that by doing good you should
silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a
cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves. Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of
believers, fear God, honor the emperor.”
Lastly, thanks to Mrs. Johnson for coordinating the field trip, Mr. Fisk for driving the bus and
chaperoning, and Randy Erdman for chaperoning and thanks to our Father in heaven for His
sovereignty!
