1st Grade

This fall the 1st grade students will be building off of the strong foundation Mrs. Kerr gave them in Kindergarten. We will be studying Who God is and the many great deeds He has done throughout the Bible.

I know the blessing and importance of children receiving a Christian education and I know that you value Christian education, too.

I am looking forward to meeting each of you and working with you to make an impact for eternity on young lives.

mr. jared Mielke, 1st GRade
Dear Valley Christian School Families,

My name is Jared Mielke, and I will be the 1st grade teacher this school year. I am excited to be joining the teaching team at Valley Christian School. I was born in Minnesota, and my family moved to Milltown in 1998 when I was 5-years old. Shortly thereafter I became acquainted with this school when my three older brothers played basketball for VCS for several years. I have also had friends who were students at VCS.

Having received my own education from kindergarten – 12th grade from a Christian perspective and having worked in public schools, I know the blessing and importance of children receiving a Christian education. I know you value Christian education, too.

I attended Maranatha Baptist University and Seminary after high school. My BA is in Piano Pedagogy (Piano Teaching), and my MA is in Church Music.

The Lord has given me a wide assortment of teaching opportunities. I taught piano for 7.5 years. I also enjoyed being a substitute teacher at Luck and
at St. Croix Falls. I helped out with Luck’s online Spanish program for a year. Most recently
I served as an aide for Luck’s 4K program.

My father pastors First Baptist Church of Milltown where I am heavily involved with the
music program and am the director for the children’s
ministries. I am also the director for an annual youth choral festival.

"Start children off on the way they    should go..." Proverbs 22:6

2nd and 3rd Grade

The Bible often uses the metaphor of a seed to represent spiritual growth. Although it is ultimately God that “causes the increase” (1 Cor. 3:6), I believe it is our responsibility to ensure that conditions are right for growing.

My goal is to create a safe space where students can build up their Biblical knowledge and discernment, thus preparing them to face real world problems.

Ms. Kruschke

In Second grade we continue to learn how to make and treat friends kindly, how to control our bodies and tongue, and how much God loves us.  We read the Bible and that it applies to English, Math, Reading and even our Spelling lessons.  We play games, paint pictures and catch grasshoppers.

I have enjoyed a Christian Education all my life and know that Jesus loves me from the tip of my toes to all the hair he has counted on my head.  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1v.1 is my favorite verse because he is in control and will continue to be and for that I am so thankful.

Miss Peikert

We welcome Ms. Peikert as our 3rd grade teacher this year! More information to come.

4th and 5th Grade

Fourth and Fifth Graders are hard workers and loads of fun! They enjoy Physical Education, Art and Recess. Each student has his favorite subject; it might be any of the following!

Science Units include Minerals and Rocks, Matter, Energy and Heat, Sound and Light Energy, Respiratory and Circulatory Systems, Weather and Biomes, and Ecosystems.

Social Studies Units includes America’s First People through American Exploration, Settlement, Colonies, Independence, Wars, and right through the new millennium.

Bible Times Curriculum encourages us to memorize weekly bible verses while studying bible stories and applying them to our own lives. Students are encouraged to develop a daily bible reading habit, and learn to live from a biblical lens.

Language Arts includes memorizing poetry, writing, and learning about sentence structure with nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and pronouns.

Reading Units involve engaging literature where we learn about the author’s craft like symbolism and allegory. We document how characters change and how stories are structured. We read to understand ourselves better.

Math for Grade 4 and 5 includes a review of basic fact skills and problem solving, and growing those skills to the next level in multiplication, division, geometry, fractions, etc.

Spelling lists usually include 20-35 related words. While learning to spell, students learn the meaning of their vocabulary word

Miss Kalpin

I grew up attending the Alliance Church of the Valley, participating in programs such as AWANA, Vacation Bible School, and youth group throughout the years. I dedicated my life to Jesus as a young girl in the AWANA program. I attended Crown College for two years before finishing my education in Eau Claire.

This will be my first year teaching, and I’m overjoyed to share this experience with the staff and families at Valley Christian school. It is such a pleasure to be teaching the fourth grade class and to grow with them as they learn. I am looking forward to this year and the journey ahead!

Mrs. Brace

Hello Valley Christian Community,

It is with great excitement I enter into teaching 5th grade at Valley Christian School. I had the privilege to teach in the elementary grades at Valley Christian for seventeen years when I first began my teaching career. Each of our three children attended and graduated from Valley Christian during this time. After our children were raised, my husband and I felt called to teach overseas in Christian schools. We served for nine years in two different schools while overseas. As we have returned home, we feel very blessed to have the opportunity to return to Valley Christian.

Prior to teaching, I grew up in a Christian home, graduated from high school, and attended Crown College where I majored in Elementary Education and Bible and minored in psychology.

My hope and goal are that the students I teach will learn and be given tools to seek to be life-long learners, to love and serve the One true God, love others, and hold firmly to a Christian world view in all they encounter.
