WELCOME TO VALLEY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL!

KINDERGARTEN

A MESSAGE FROM MS. KERR

Kindergarten will be an exciting year full of exploration and learning!  My class mission is to create a challenging and nurturing Christian environment where kids have fun while they learn.

I strive to create a classroom community where kids feel comfortable taking risks and understand that it is human to make mistakes in order to learn.  In my classroom, I hold high expectations and expect everyone to do their best each and every day.  It is also my goal to instill a love of learning in each of my students by creating hands-on learning where children are actively engaged in practicing their kindergarten skills.

Kindergarten Super Stars

I consider my job to be one of the greatest occupations in the universe!  I have the important job of being a “STAR POLISHER.”  You see, I am a teacher.  The stars are the children in my class.  My job is to take each child – in whatever shape they come in – and shine and buff them and then send them out to take their places as bright, twinkling beacons in God’s world.

The children come into my room in all shapes and sizes.  Sometimes they’re bent, tarnished, dirty, crinkly, or broken.  Some stars are cuddly, soft, and funny.  Some are prickly and thorny.

As I buff and polish, I train and teach my little stars; I tell them that God has a wonderful plan for their lives; I tell them they can do anything they set their minds to.  I tell them they can be the brightest, shiniest stars in the sky and the world will be a better place because of them.

Each night as I look at the stars twinkling and sparkling in the sky, I am reminded of the awesome responsibility that God has bestowed on me.  As the day ends, I get out my buffing cloth and my bottle of polish and prepare for tomorrow…for my class of little “super stars!”

Meet the teacher

mrs. gail kerr

This is my fourth year teaching kindergarten at Valley Christian. My husband, Ken, and I live in New Richmond and have three adult children – Rachel (married to Andrew), Jared (married to Megan), and Andrea.  When I’m not at school, I like to read, watch movies, go on walks, garden, travel, and spend time with my family and friends.
