STATEMENT OF FAITH
The Word of God

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

The Trinity

We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.

God the Father

We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, true God and true man, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substituting and atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible future return to earth.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide.

Regeneration

We believe man was created in the image of God, but fell from Grace with original sin. We believe that all men are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit.

The Church

We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated believers are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ.

Christian Conduct

We believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God and the well-being of his fellow men; that his conduct should be blameless before the world; that he should be a faithful steward of his possessions; and that he should seek to realize for himself and others the full stature of maturity in Christ.

The Return

We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal joy of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the lost.

Philosophy of Education

The educational process in a Christian school is dependent on a Biblical philosophy that provides the Christian world view and essential truths for life so that children may be prepared to assume their proper place in the home, the church, and the community. Accordingly, the philosophy of education for Valley Christian School is as follows:

  1. God is truth. The purpose of Christian Education is the application of this truth to all of life. In His sovereign grace God has revealed truth to us through the Written Word, the Bible, the Living Word, Jesus Christ, and the World that he has created. The Bible is inerrant, literal and our source of absolute truth. Moral truth is objective, absolute, and dependent only upon the unchanging Word of God. In a world where everything seems to change, God and His Word remain as the only constant  (John 14:6, 17:17).

  2. Man is naturally sinful (Rom. 3:23). On his own, man incapable of knowing God or eternally improving himself. Yet, man was created in the image of God, to be eternal, rational and holy. This ideal, destroyed by sin can only now be achieved through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and the personal acceptance of God’s free gift of salvation  (Jer. 17:9).

  3. Christian Education is dependent upon Christ. Christian Education, dependent upon the atoning work of Christ and regeneration of the Holy Spirit, seeks to renew the mind, mold the spirit, and nurture the soul of each student. By pursuing academic excellence, personal discipline and godly devotion, our goal is to mold Christian character in our students so that they are capable of standing firm in an increasingly godless society (Eph. 6:11-18).

  4. True education is gaining God’s perspective.True education is integrating God’s perspective into all aspects of instruction. Our ultimate teacher is the Holy Spirit who will enable, illuminate and guide each teacher and student into all truth (John 14:26).

  5. The parent is God’s chosen authority in the raising of a child. It is the school’s mission to work in unison with the parent complementing and encouraging Bible based morality, values, and beliefs (Deut. 6:4-9, Ps. 4:1-5).

  6. Our commitment is to teach with dignity and respect. We recognize that each child is a unique, complex, chosen, and beloved creation of God. We will strive to develop within each child the potential of their God given gifts and talents as a servant of a sovereign God, living according to an unseen but eternal reality (Ps. 139, Matt 22:37-39).

  7. Our highest motivating value is found in the word’s of Christ. “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself” (Mark 12:30-31).
