This December will be a busy month here at VCS! The days are busy with the Christmas program practices.  I am so blessed to be surrounded by gifted and talented staff and volunteers with willing hearts to work with students in this special way.  

We are also planning “caroling” trips to Christian Community Homes in Osceola with our elementary and secondary students. This is something that the students have asked if we could return to and it blesses my heart.  We have not been able to since 2020, so this is extremely encouraging to us!

In addition to the regular excitement around here, we are taking the 9th-12th grade students to Samaritan’s Purse in Aurora, Illinois.  A bus ride, gas stop, Kwik Trip snacks, and an overnight on a church floor will finally bring us to the Operation Christmas Child Warehouse.  VCS had been in the tradition of serving at the warehouse when it was in Minneapolis for nearly twenty years.  When they made the move to Illinois, we blessed them, but felt “something missing.” We explored the idea of making the trip, and decided to jump into this opportunity to serve.  

In home room this morning we read the following verses out of Hebrews 13:1-2:

“Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.” 

We talked about treating each person we meet and and interact with as someone created in God’s image and important enough for Him to die on the cross for.  It moves me to think that in our lives we have the opportunity to meet the needs of those we may never see again.  

Please continue to pray over this trip. Our mission at VCS is to  partner with you as parents to disciple these young lives in the Lord.

Snow Days!!

Some of us are dreaming of a white Christmas! Regardless, the snow will eventually come.  We’d like to remind you of how you will learn of school closings should we need to go that route. We will:
