For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11
Greetings VCS Family and Friends,
We are in the center of one of the most precious times of the year. We celebrate the birth of Christ and that He came to earth to do for us what we could not do for ourselves. Through His spilled blood and resurrection we are saved, healed, delivered, and restored. Praise Him.
How we celebrate is very personal. And if we really think about it, it is daily, not yearly that we “lift our hands” in both praise and celebration. For some of us there is a song that touches our hearts especially and exemplifies best what “He has done” and what our “response” in adoration is personally. For myself, it is “The Little Drummer Boy,” especially the following verses:
Little baby
Pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too
Pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gift to bring
Pa rum pum pum pum
That’s fit to give our king
Pa rum pum pum pum,
Rum pum pum pum,
Rum pum pum pum
Shall I play for you?
This song stirs my heart. The recognition of who He is, “Little baby” (our Savior); the acknowledgement that I come with nothing and am completely dependent on His provision for me, “I am a poor boy too…I have no gift to bring…”; the understanding of His place in my life as a result of this exchange, “Our King,” and finally my heart change, “Shall I play for you?”
If you would, take time to listen to this beautiful worship song. Have a beautiful weekend with your family!
In Christ,
Kathy Thompson
