We have already begun our second semester! January 16th officially began our second half of the school year 2023-2024.  From my experience, the second half goes even faster than the first. We will have Education Fair, conferences, track, formal, field trips, graduation, and so much more to look forward to. 

It is always about this time of year that I have to begin preparing myself for graduation.  It is such a privilege to have our students up to that special day.  As staff we find ourselves beginning to think, “this is their last Christmas program,” or “this is their last formal.” I know you parents are going through those same thoughts.  

In homeroom today we talked a little about kingdom culture, reading I Thessalonians 5:1-11.  We talked about using the time we have left at VCS to the best of our ability. The time goes quicker than they think! We talked about Christ’s return, but that while we are here we have the opportunity to create a “kingdom culture” in our school, in our classrooms, in our hallways, and in our interactions with students younger than ourselves, and teachers and peers.  

“But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 

I Thes. 5:8-11. 

We are sons and daughters of Light. It is so beautiful to see us reflecting that in the hallway, in the classes, and in our friendships! But we need more. We have His presence and we pray with you that this school be filled with His goodness, joy, wisdom, and love.

                                  School Choice Week!!!

January 21-27 is officially School Choice Week! Application season is February 5th-April 20th. Please take note of this date and let friends and family know about this as well!! Please watch the VCS Social Media for more information and reminders next week and know that your students may be coming home with fun items.  We are thankful and excited for this opportunity and want to get the word out! 

                      Elementary Professional Development Day

There is no school for elementary students next Friday, January 26th. This is our Elementary Professional Development Day. We are excited to work together, learn together, and bring new ideas and inspiration back into our classrooms. Our theme this day is, “God Bless my Space,” and our focus is “Classroom Culture.” Take note of this day and pray with us for the very best God has for us as we invest in our kids!

With our recent cold snap, we would just like to remind you that, should there be a need to cancel school due to weather, you will receive an email from the office. The announcement will also be posted on the KARE 11 website.  

                                           Bake Sale Items

Thank you to everyone who helped make a successful and delicious bake sale this past December possible!  We still have a few dishes and trays left in the kitchen. If you donated and think that possibly they could be yours, please pop in on Monday to claim these items.
