Last week, I closed the first paragraph with this statement, “…think of the potential that we have.” This week, in the series of “God is,” I want to push that thought just a bit with “God is listening.” He is listening for/to our concerns and praises. He asks us to bring these things to Him prayer, any time, any place. The Philippians 4:6 passage is probably the most notable, “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” There are others too, like, “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer (1 Pe 3:12 a&b),” and “And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith (Mt 21:22).” What of the other supposed deities listens to their adherents? None. What happened to the priests of Baal on Mt. Carmel? They aroused themselves into a state of frenzy, even to the point of cutting themselves in an effort to gain the attention of Baal. They were not successful. But we, as Christ-followers only need to whisper, nay think (Ps. 139:2), and He hears and answers. That is simply breathtaking that we have access to God Almighty!
The “race” is now on the backside looking forward to the finish line. Between here and there and as you well know, there are a whole host of events that need to take place. I hope you are up for it. Please pray for the staff and students as a little bug has been going through and keeping them out a day or two.
The next regularly scheduled board meeting is coming up on Tuesday, Feb. 15th, @ 6pm. You are all welcome to attend and listen to the board deliberate on the items listed on the agenda. Per the VCS By-laws, the board chair may recognize an attendee to ask a question or gain a comment of the individual. If you have items that you think are suitable for the agenda, please forward those to me by Feb 1st. The deadline is moved up a week so that I can compile and get the update agenda to the board by Feb. 8th.
The basketball season is in full swing, so check the athletic calendar on the school’s website for the next games. For those parent who have students on the teams, help them to get enough fluids and rest.
Thank you for praying for the school. Pray for the school board as they are already gearing up for the Spring Corporate meeting, May 26th, and for their leadership with the new school initiative.
Pressing forward for His glory,
