JAGUAR NEWS

DEAR VCS PARENTS AND FRIENDS,

January 1st marked the beginning of an initiative at the Alliance Church called “40 Days of Prayer.” Day #4 of the devotional that correlates to this initiative, has the title “He is Sovereign” that jumped out at me as a great fit to our theme, “let me tell you about my Jesus.”

Dan 2:20  Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might.

Dan 2:21  He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding;

Dan 2:22  he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.

Dan 2:23  To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of you, for you have made known to us the king’s matter.”

Notice verse 21. Who can do the things that are listed in this verse unless that individual has ultimate sovereignty. That kind of sovereignty can only fit the King of kings and Lords of lords. I have to chuckle just a bit at the attempts of the World Economic Forum trying to control the climate of the world when
they don’t have the wherewithal to make that happen. Just think of the string of low-pressure systems that have been experienced during the month of January. Can any of them (WEF) or the collective of them direct the path of those storms? Not a chance! Only God has the sovereignty and control over
nature to make such changes.

Think about the leaders of the various nations of the world. There are some leaders we would like to see removed and others honored for their sound leadership record. We do not have the mind of Christ to know just why some leaders are in the position of leadership. Again, only God has the authority, power, and sovereignty to make that call.

Lastly, think about wisdom and understanding. Note that He is the giver of wisdom and knowledge. Also, if we look at James 1:5, He give wisdom generously and without reproach. What does that wisdom and knowledge look like? Verse 22 gives us an indication, the wisdom and understanding of the deep and hidden things. Think of all the “marvels” of the scientific world. In each case when that new “marvel” is revealed, many of the scientists involved were ones that believed in God, and they took the unknown to mankind up to that point and made it known.

Our response to God’s sovereignty should be similar to that Daniel’s in verse 23, one of praise and thanks. All of us receive wisdom everyday though often we do not realize it. Just think of what would happen if God did not dispense wisdom to us. We would be groping about as one with a blind fold on.

A big hurray for the Eric and Savanna Strohbeen who received their first child, Timothy Keith, into their family this past Monday @ 10:06am.

The past weekend was the Chinese New Year celebration – “Xin nian Kuaile” (Happy New Year in Chinese). This celebration is based upon the lunar calendar and one of the unique points to this cultural observance is that it marks the beginning of spring. In some places in China, there is a moderate
correlation to this idea. The thought of spring makes me jump to the 3rd grade listening to Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” which occurred when is filled in on Monday afternoon. The opening portion of the “Seasons” is titled “Spring.” If you would like to listen to the wonderful piece, check out the link below to a YouTube link.

The current set of flags – American/Christian, that the school uses for secondary homeroom are “ancient.” They are the same flags that were used 35+ years ago and are ragged. So, I had Mrs. Rosenow check the price on a new set – $360. If you would be so inclined to participate in the purchase of a new set, just leave any donations with Mrs. Rosenow so designated.

Wanted: One or two more individuals that could sub teach when needed. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited school is needed.

You should have received a parent survey in your inbox. Please fill it out and submit it by Feb 1. Thanks.

Cookie dough orders due Monday, 1/30.

Looking forward, Feb 1 is the start of the Wisconsin School Choice registration season. Those that are participating in the choice program should have received an email from the school with information regarding the program.

The annual VCS Ed. Fair is a little over two months way.

The next school regularly scheduled meeting will be on Feb 9th @ 6pm. Please forward any items that you would like to see on the agenda by 1/26.

Continue to pray for God’s presence to energize us to greater conformity to His will.

Pressing forward for His glory,
Ron
