JAGUAR NEWS

DEAR VCS PARENTS AND FRIENDS,

No word plays, at least yet, in this week’s newsletter. Earlier, I was reminded of a key concept, character quality of “my Jesus” with the hymn, “The Church’s One Foundation… is Jesus Christ my Lord.”* (Below is a YouTube link to a very majestic rendition of this hymn arranged by Dan Forrest, a BJU grad.)

1Co 3:10  According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it.

1Co 3:11  For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Those of you who have built a house for yourself or for someone else know the importance of having a firm/solid foundation. I remember when the house that I live in was built. When the footings were poured, the guys doing the construction understood that they needed to be down below backfill level to a point that the frost would not cause issues with it. Truth be told, the footings are down about 60 ins. Because of this solid foundation the house does not show any shifting or moving due to the ground freezing during the winter.

The foundation for our house pales in comparison to the spiritual foundation that is found in Christ. The “spiritual footings” found in Christ are so deep and strong that nothing can come against it. Also, if you look at passages like Mt. 25:34, we see that such a foundation was laid before the beginning of time.

We live in chaotic times. We do not have to live as though we are impacted by the chaos if our spiritual foundation is firmly planted on Christ. Daily, we are bombarded by things that could cause us to shift our focus, but if our focus/foundation is planted on Christ, we can “look above/over” the daily din with hope and security, pressing forward with confidence.

Mark your calendars for the annual FALL FESTIVAL FUNDRAISER event!
Come enjoy an adult-only evening of Dinner, Music and Live Dessert Auction. Sunday, October 23rd at Bloom Lake Barn in Shafer, MN from 5:00-8:00pm. Get your $20 tickets at the VCS Office by October 14th. We look forward to seeing you there!

Tomorrow, Friday, 10/14, is the last day to purchase your tickets for the Fall Festival Fundraiser.

If your children are participating in the next hot lunch, please submit your monies by Monday, Oct. 17th .

The students are very excited about the Pie-in-the-Face fundraiser/competition. At the time of this writing, Mrs. Kruschke has the lead “by weight” with a 2:1 margin over the next competitor! As noted last week, all proceeds (the goal is $7000) of this fundraiser go towards painting the new bus.

We are off and running with the Christmas play – Believe! We have made it through each scene, reading through the lines. You are going to like this play. It has a clear message with doses of humor and Christmas carols sprinkled in here and there.

The next regularly scheduled VCS Board meeting will be on Nov. 1st . If you have items for that meeting, get them to me by the 10/18.

Pressing forward for His glory,
Ron

The church’s one foundation
Is Jesus Christ her Lord;
She is his new creation
By water and the Word.
From heaven he came and sought her
To be his holy bride;
With his own blood he bought her,
And for her life he died.
Elect from every nation,
Yet one o’er all the earth;
Her charter of salvation,
One Lord, one faith, one birth;
One holy name she blesses,
Partakes one holy food,
And to one hope she presses,
With every grace endued.
Mid toil and tribulation,
And tumult of her war,
She waits the consummation
Of peace forevermore;
Till, with the vision glorious,
Her longing eyes are blest,
And the great church victorious
Shall be the church at rest.

Yet she on earth hath union
With God the Three in One,
And mystic sweet communion
With those whose rest is won.
O happy ones and holy!
Lord, give us grace that we
Like them, the meek and lowly,
On high may dwell with thee.
